New Arcus temperature sensor for ceiling mounting
Noticia
At the light+building 2010 fair ARCUS presented a new conventional temperature sensor that can be connected to other sensors of their KNX catalogue using their temperature inputs.

What makes this new temperature sensor so special is its design, since it really looks like a small ceiling detector or halogen spotlight. This can be very useful in homes or buildings where decoration and design are important issues.

But this piece of information is meant to be further-reaching: those of you who are not yet familiar with ARCUS should take the opportunity to get to know this high-quality manufacturer.

We recommend you to have a look at their huge temperature / humidity sensor range , since there is a solution for almost any situation (indoor, outdoor, pipes, ground humidity for irrigation systems, surface or inbox mounting, etc.).

The best thing about all these sensors is that they have a really powerful application program which allows from the basic temperature and humidity measurement, to the most advanced regulation including dew point, etc.

If you are interested in the ARCUS sensor range, you can go directly to the product list by clicking here.

CONCLUSIONS TO light+building 2010
Noticia
Mission concluded! Light+building 2010 is over and, as far as we can tell, all expectations have been met. These are the first conclusions:

* KNX is really going places! Visitors and manufacturers from all over the world filled the Frankfurt fair. And, if someone still had any doubts, the Top Event and the KNX Awards only confirmed what was already obvious to us: KNX has crossed the European borders (mainly to Asia and North America) and has become the international standard we were waiting for.

* Big, traditional manufacturers such as ABB, Jung, Gira, Hager, Siemens, Berker or Schneider displayed their full potential with their splendid booths and well known range of products, but were rather disappointing when referring to new solutions. Nevertheless we will be disclosing some hidden treasures for you soon.

* 2010 was definitely the year of the small/medium KNX manufacturers. Brand new names from several countries exhibited the most varied assortment of KNX devices for all purposes. We were extremely glad to find high-quality, innovative-design and low-price KNX products ready to enter all kind of projects. Keep visiting us because we have a lot to talk about.

We are working on a complete overview of all the new KNX devices of light+building 2010 for your convenience. It will only take a few days and it will be worth having a careful look at.

Happy 20th Birthday!
Noticia
In order to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the KNX Association, a joint event together with the KNX General Assembly was held in Brussels on the 14th & 15th February 2010.

Apart from a gorgeous dinner and celebration at the Atomium, all light up and shiny, some very important issues were presented in the KNX General Assembly, such as: Energy Efficiency, Smart Metering with KNX, the worldwide situation of KNX, etc.

We will inform you about everything. But, first of all, we would like to sum up the speech held by Mr. Godehardt Schneider‏, the president of the KNXA, in the following points:

•    The ETS4 will be presented at the light+building, but unfortunately will not be ready to be launched in the market until the 20th October 2010. The manufacturers already started using the ETS MT Tool 4.0 (Manufacturing tool) and it seems to be much more user friendly and flexible than its forerunner. It is a plug-in into the well known programming environment Visual Studio and has very good xml import / export possibilities.

•    Mr. Schneider also underlined the fact that Smart Metering is increasingly important and that the KNXA is doing everything in its power to promote the implementation of KNX into the different standards (CEN TC 294 – Battery powered meters, CLC TC 13 - Electric Meters, ETSI M2M – External communication, CLC TC 205 Link to smart home)

•    For those who are interested in attending a KNX ground course, there is good news: after passing the exam and creating the online account, one will have the possibility to download a free ETS Trainee version from their account.

•    It was also very pleasing to hear that approximately 500 ETS3 licenses / month were sold last year.
