In a compact housing, the AP 257/22 weather station (GPS) contains all sensors, the evaluating electronic sys-tem and the bus coupling unit. It measures wind speed, brightness and temperature, recognizes twilight and precipitation and receives the GPS (Global Positioning System) radio signal for date and UTC-time (UTC - Uni-versal Time Coordinated). In addition to date and time, all measured values can be transmitted on the bus in EIS5 (DPT 9) format and re-spectively monitored on up to 3 limit values. The AP 257/32 weather station WS1 (GPS) (see figure 1) contains all sensors, electronic systems for weather data analysis and the bus coupler in one compact enclosure. It measures wind speed, brightness and temperature, detects dusk / dawn and precipitation and receives the GPS signal for date and time.

Besides date and time, all measured values can be sent to the bus in the EIS5 (DPT 9) format and each can be monitored with up to 3 limit values. Limit values can be selected as parameters or as communication objects.

The weather station not only allows for a simple solar protection control, which activates or deactivates the solar protection  depending on whether the sun is shining or not. It can also activate a solar protection control for up to 4 façades under consideration of their alignment (direction of the compass). In this case, the solar protection of a façade is automatically activated only when the sun shines on the respective façade and is deactivated as soon as this is no longer possible or the sun is no longer shining.

Besides wind alarm, frost alarm and precipitation alarm in total up to 8 alarm or error messages can be combined using a logical OR function to create a “Safety” communication object, which, in case of an alarm, moves the solar protection into its safety position.

In addition, 4 AND-gates and 4 OR-gates are available with 4 inputs each for additional logical combinations.

The weather station WS1 may also be used where GPS reception is not possible. In this case, date and time must be sent to the weather station via the bus.

For configuration, the engineering tool software ETS3 should be used, since it provides an optimal display of the configuration menus of the weather station.

The power supply of the electronics takes place via AC 20 V or DC 24 V safety extra-low voltage (SELV). For the transmission of this voltage, the white /yellow twisted pair of the bus cable can be used.

The IP Router N146/02 is a DIN rail mounted device.

The device implements the KNXnet/IP standard and connects KNX/EIB lines via data networks using the Internet Protocol (IP). Also this device offers concurrent access to the bus line from any PC or other data processing equipment.

The physical connection to the KNX/EIB is established via a bus connector terminal block. For connection to the data network (IP via 10BaseT) the device contains an RJ45 socket.

By using a LAN modem an KNX/EIB installation can be remotely accessed even if there is no direct data network connection between a PC and an IP Router.

LAN modems are available on the market for standard telephone, ISDN or DSL connections.

The IP Router requires additional operating power for its operation. The IP Router N146/02 can source this operating power via the network connection from “Power over Ethernet” according to IEEE 802.3af. Alternatively, the operating power can be provided via a second terminal block (white-yellow terminals) by a safety extra low voltage (SELV) power supply AC/DC 24 V or by a bus power supply (unchoked power, DC 29V). When a SELV power supply is connected the operating power is sourced from it.

The combination sunblind actuator N 501 is a device for DIN-rail mounting with N-system dimensions, 8 inputs for AC/DC 12-230V and 4 channels (= 8 relay contact outputs) for 230V AC, 6A (with resistive load) for the control of 1 sunblind drive each. 8 red LED on the top side of the device indicate the current switching state of the inputs.

The power supply of the electronics is carried out via an integrated power supply unit for AC 230V. The device is to be used for sun protection control in the as-delivered state, even without a bus line connected and without prior configuration with the Engineering Tool Software (ETS). If connected to the KNX bus the device can be configured with the ETS3.

In the as-delivered state (stand-alone mode), all inputs act directly on the outputs, i.e. a pushbutton on input “a” deactivates (moves up) the sun protection on channel “A”, a pushbutton on input “b” activates (moves down) the sun protection on channel “A”, etc.. If a sunblind is to be operated from several points, then a number of pushbuttons can be connected in parallel to the corresponding inputs.

If the sun protection is designed as Venetian blind, then a “long” operation of a pushbutton starts a travel of the blind into the corresponding end position. A “short” operation of a pushbutton stops a blind's travel or leads to open or close the slats by 1 step if the blind is stationary.

Each output can be switched on and off in "Direct mode" as long as the corresponding pushbutton on the top side of the device (see figure 1) will be pressed. To do this, first the “Direct mode” has to be switched on by pressing the "Direct mode" button (yellow LED for direct mode indication comes on) and then the pushbutton assigned to the output has to be pressed. If, after direct switching of an output, direct mode is not ended by another press of the "Direct mode" pushbutton, then this is done automatically 15 minutes after the final press of one of the pushbuttons on the top side of the N 501.

There are also eight AND gates and eight OR gates available, each with four inputs for logic operations. If the wind speed is measured at several points or on several façades, then the logic gates can be used, for example, to combine the wind alarms from several wind sensors to a central alarm.

The use of the ETS3 Engineering Tool Software is recommended for parameterization, since it renders possible the best graphic display of the wind sensor setting menus.

The valve adjustment works motor driven proportional.

Any valve position between two parametrizable limit values can be reached. The current valve position is displayed by five LEDs at the front side of the device.

The device has two separate binary inputs, which can be used as a window contact or a presence contact. The respective values of the corresponding communication objects can be sent via the KNX bus e. g. for changing the operation modes (forced mode frost protection/comfort mode).

By monitoring the time interval between two set value telegrams sent out by the room temperature controller, whose function can be controlled. If the telegram failures an alarm telegram can be sent via the KNX bus and an emergency mode can be activated.

By using central heating boilers with a demand regulated flow temperature control the device can send a feedback regarding the current energy demand (current max. valve position) via a group address to the central heating boiler.

The valve actuator provides a valve protection mode, which is activated if the set value has not been changed during 7 days. Thereby the valve will be completely opened and closed one time to avoid blocking of the valve if it has not moved over a longer period of time.

The valve actuator can be used directly after connecting to the bus voltage. If there is still no application loaded, the valve will be opened - after an automatic adjustment - 25 % automatically.

The switching actuator sub-module N 562/21 is a DIN-rail mounted device in N-system dimensions. It can switch three groups of electrical consumers, independent of each other, via its three relay contact outputs. A sub-module cannot be operated stand-alone or be directly connected to the bus. But it can be connected via a special 6-pole bridging connector either with a switching actuator main module N 513/11, N 512/11 or N 562/11 or with another sub module N 513/21, N 512/21 or N 562/21, which is already connected to a main module (see figure 1). The sub-module electronics are supplied by bus voltage via the 6-pole bridging connector.

In total up to 4 switching actuator sub-modules can be connected in series to a switching actuator main module, so that amain module, if need be, can be extended simply from a 3-fold to a 6-, 9-, 12- or 15-fold switching actuator and thus bematched flexibly to the number of loads to be switched. It is indicated by flashing of the corresponding green LED A to E on the top of the main module if more sub-modules are set than are actually connected or if the set sub-module type does not correspond with the sub-module type actually connected or if a sub-module is detected as faulty.

The comprehensive application program of the switching actuator main module controls both the main module outputs and the outputs of all connected sub-modules. Besides other functions, this includes measuring and monitoring the load current for each output on load failure and overload, simultaneousswitchingof all 3 outputs (3-phase switching), converting a speed preset as a percentage into 1- to 3-stage switching commands (fan speed control), conversion of a valve setting preset as a percentage into a pulse width modulated switching command (thermal drive control), a switching cycle and runtime count with threshold monitoring for each output and an integrated 8-bit scene control, in which each output can be incorporated into up to 8 scenes.

The application program can be downloaded with ETS 3.0 f or higher versions.

It is connected to a universal dimmer main module or to a preceding submodule via a low voltage terminal block. The power supply for the electronics is provided by an integrated 230V AC power supply unit.
